Bohol Butterfly Sanctuary

Thank you for checking out my post. Please visit my new blog https://letsgoady.com/travel/. I am posting there every week about my recent travels and lifestyle. Thank you. XOXO -ady

Located at Bilar Bohol, the Simply Butterfly Convention Center is the home for broad collections of colorful butterflies found in the country.

The entrance fee to the sanctuary costs 40 pesos for the adults and 10 pesos for the children. The place also has a Picnic Area, a Butterfly Garden, Accommodation, Restaurant and Catering Services. They also accommodate Educational Tours for the kiddos. They also give Special Rate for School Groups!

The tour starts with the tour guide explaining the habitat section.  Inside this section are types of butterflies enclosed in a glass frame.

After the habitat we then proceed to the isle of the Butterfly Garden. The garden is a simple landscape where plants and different flowers are placed.

Our tour guide has a good sense of humour. He always throws his joke in every explanation that makes it less boring. At first his jokes are not that witty, actually not amusing at all. But eventually we all laugh on every line he’s saying, actually it’s not the joke itself that is funny, it’s actually how he delivered it.

He first explains the difference between the butterfly and mariposa.  His first joke is regarding the biggest butterfly. He called it Marine butterfly then suddenly revokes it and said that the display is just made of Marine plywood and not pertaining to the real specie itself.

He then explained how to identify the male from the female butterfly. He said that females are bigger and is actually stronger!

He also explicated the cycle of the butterfly and showcases it. The first cycle is the Egg. The egg is a tiny round or oval shaped that are attached to leaves or stems. The second phase is the caterpillar or larva that often has a cool pattern of strips of black and yellow.

The third cycle is the pupa, it is the transformation where tissues are broken down and the insect structures are formed.

And of course, the last stage is the butterfly!

There are enough butterflies to see on the sanctuary but not that many. Maybe they are just resting on the tree and I just didn't noticed their presence. :)

Our tour guide is also good with the camera tricks. He created a illusion that you have a wings using the cool butterfly display encase in the frame.

I truly commend their tour guide, without them, it’s just like going on a place, roam around, and do the entertainment among yourselves. So kudos to their staffs especially to Kuya our guide.
