PRONY, the biggest living python in captivity

Thank you for checking out my post. Please visit my new blog https://letsgoady.com/travel/. I am posting there every week about my recent travels and lifestyle. Thank you. XOXO -ady

PRONY, the biggest living python in captivity can be found in Baclayon Bohol. Outside the site are vendors and line of stalls of delicacies and souvenir items.

For 20 pesos as entrance fee, you will also able to see some of Bohol endemic wildlife and specifies of birds like Black-naped Oriol, Pink Necked Green Pigeon, Flying Lemure, Palm Civit Cat, Monitor Lizard, Rufous Night Heron and Slender Billed Crow and of course Prony.

After this wildlife trail, you’ll then see Prony’s Cage. Prony is named after its captivator Sofronio Salibay. She is captured in 1996 in the town of Albur where she also lives for a decade.

I don’t dare to go inside her cage. Just a picture of her outside is Ok with me. Ever since I was a child, I’m really afraid of Snakes or any reptiles. The owner said that they’ve just fed her with 2 live goats. It really freaks me out as I observe her lower body is bloated while the upper part on her head is a bit tiny.

I’ve just noticed that the lady in charge inside the cage do pushes the tourist to take a photo while your feet placed in a small space of Prony’s body. Even though some persist that they are good even if they are just beside the snake. Well the choice is really up to you if you want to have a photo inside or not but expect that they will push you to have your picture taken with the snake up-close. :)

Beside Prony’s cage is a table where they showcase their embalmed animal. At first, I thought that they are just figurine or some realistic ornament. But upon touching it, you’ll feel that they are real.

Near the entrance, you’ll be approached by a man wearing a cotton dress if you want to see his performance. He approached us by asking in a local dialect if where we came from and if we are in Group. Good thing I understand a bit of their Dialect. But since we don’t have plenty of time we just give it a next time.

ENTRANCE FEE: 20 pesos
